Abertay University contracted CoreAzure to deliver an exciting cloud migration programme, that has seen the majority of IT services transition to Microsoft Azure. The move to a modern cloud platform was a way of strengthening its reputation for delivering leading edge ethical hacking, computer gaming, business and social science degrees, as well as enhancing the resilience and efficiency of its IT hosting model.
Sheffield Hallam University
Cloud Readiness Assessment & Transition Planning
As the University’s trusted Microsoft Gold Partner, CoreAzure have been working with Sheffield Hallam University to deliver their enterprise-wide cloud migration to Microsoft Azure. Nearing the end of a hardware refresh cycle, the decision was to re-invest in current on-premise data centres or to commit to a cloud programme designed to transform services and to reduce Opex and Capex costs. CoreAzure was engaged to develop the case for cloud and to design and build a new cloud-based infrastructure with ExpressRoute connectivity, and to migrate c.80% of application workloads to Azure over a 15-month timeframe.
University of Leicester
Windows Virtual Desktop Services
The University of Leicester, a public research institution, faced challenges due to the recent global pandemic, realising the need for an agile virtual desktop solution to adapt to a predominantly distance-based teaching model. Like other UK universities, Leicester sought a quick-to-deploy remote access solution for COVID-19 response, ensuring accessibility without disadvantaging students and teachers reliant on campus facilities for curriculum-based applications.

Cloud-Based Infrastructure Transformation
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has distributed £7.9bn of grants to over 43K heritage projects. The scope and complexity of their operations to support the smooth and effective running by a staff of around 400 is significant. The organisation recognised the need to leverage technology further to enhance the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the organisation, and when faced recently with a need to move their offices, presented them with a unique opportunity to re-design and re-shape the entire IT infrastructure and in doing so fully exploit the potential of the Microsoft Cloud platform.
University of Plymouth
'Into the Cloud' Migration Programme
The University of Plymouth (UoP) outlined their ‘Into the Cloud’ programme which was partially driven by the need to reduce operational overheads, however, the main drivers for change were to simplify the application estate, which had evolved over many years, and to resolve known areas of underlying infrastructure risk and technical debt. At the time UoP had an aging on-premise data centre at the Plymouth campus, which was consuming an increasing amount of internal resource. UoP wanted to achieve a wider set of benefits, including those associated with the move to a modern and state-of-the-art supported environment, characterised by improved scalability and responsiveness
